Transitioning From Indoor to Outdoor Climbing
If you are looking for a trusted partner to share outdoor rock climbing with this season, we are here for you.
The step from gym to outdoor climbing is both significant and consequential. One notable challenge is navigation: Choosing an appropriate crag to climb at, finding your way to it, locating the route you want to climb (which bulge or dihedral do you go up when there are three of them right next to each other, all with similar looking routes?!), following the route as it meanders up the rock face, and then getting safely back down afterward. Throw in managing gear and anchors and all the considerations for when something goes wrong, and outdoor climbing gets serious really quickly.
Salt Pump offers outdoor climbing programs that are a fit for any level of climber. Our Skills Series and Outdoor Rock Climbing Programs have differing objectives to cater to differing goals.
For those interested in building their technical skills to climb outside on their own, our Skills Series offer the perfect platform. These three-session courses take place over 2 evenings indoors with a capstone outdoor day to put those skills into practice outside. You can choose from Trad Climbing, Sport Climbing, and the Big Wall Skill Series.
For those interested in more of a guided experience, with a focus on simply enjoying rock climbing outside, we offer Outdoor Rock Climbing Programs. These single day excursions just require you to be psyched and to know how to belay…we will guide you through the rest!
